Learn to play the tin whistle with our CD ROM tin whistle tutorial. Tin whistle instruction is provided by our tin whistle tutor Brian Finnegan. Video and audio files combine with music notation, text and photos to make the learning process as easy as possible.

Brian Finnegan is a celebrated whistle (and flute) player, well known for his exciting approach to the art through his playing with Flook. This approach has also made him a much sought-after teacher in both Ireland and England.


This tin whistle tutorial caters for all levels, from the absolute beginner to the advanced player. A performance piece and interview are included in the CD ROM.

Beginners

In the beginners' section Brian demonstrates the basic skills of whistle playing using easy, slow-paced airs and polkas. Jigs and reels are then introduced and ornaments are added gradually. The individual parts of these tunes are demonstrated on video at a slow pace and the full tune is subsequently demonstrated at a medium pace so that you can play along.
